Don Calvin

Don created the Woodbridge Project to provide resources to other ministries. As a small church pastor his experience ranges from preaching and praying for the sick to plumbing repair. He offers encouragement to other pastors, assistance in leadership development, vision development, discipleship, small groups, prayer, teaching, Experiencing God Weekend Retreats, and church planting support (with special emphasis on Latin America).

Service is typically provided at no charge. Él habla español mas o menos.

Don is married to his high school sweetheart from Louisiana, the former Barbara Beaucoudray. Barbara has a degree in pre-school education and taught at several schools prior to serving as director of the children's ministry and women’s ministry at the church they pastored. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Having had the privilege of mentoring his own replacement, Don retired from full-time pastoring in 2015 and now resides with his wife Barbara in Cypress, TX. They are members of Real Life Church in Tomball, TX.

The grandson of two Southern Baptist ministers, Don was saved at a young age and grew up in the faith. Rather than a call into the ministry he felt instead a clear call to serve the church as a layperson until the age 47. At that point, a very significant change in motivation occurred. As a result, while still working for the Dow Chemical Co. he studied by correspondence at Global University (Berean School of the Bible), becoming a certified Assemblies of God minister in 1995.

He took early retirement from Dow and became the pastor of the Freeland Assembly of God that same year. He continued his studies progressing to ordained minister in 2000. He pastored the church in Freeland, Michigan, a town with a population of 7,000, for 20 years.  Don served over a decade on the board of Mid-Michigan Teen Challenge in Saginaw, Michigan. At the Mid-Michigan Bible Institute in Saginaw, Michigan, he taught Pastoral Practices and Principles for those who felt called into ministry as pastors.

Before pastoring Don earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State Univ. and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the US Army Reserve. For 23 years he worked for The Dow Chemical Company in Louisiana, Texas, California, and Michigan as an engineer and executive in research. He served on several USA and global multi-disciplinary business teams and steering teams.

Don retired in 1995 as Global Vice President for Research in Chemicals, Performance Products and Hydrocarbons for the Dow Chemical Company.
